WELCOME TO THE MACINTOSH DEMO APPLICATIONS CD, VERSION 1.0!!
This screen describes how to explore the applications on this CD and how you can help prevent software piracy.
EXPLORING THE APPLICATIONS
You have 2 alternatives to view the applications:
1. Click here first!
Your first alternative for viewing the applications is to click on the "Click here first!" icon. This will bring up a series of windows containing buttons for each application. By clicking on the individual buttons, you can launch the demos directly. If the demo has special instructions, there will be a document button next to the demo. To quickly page through the demos, you may, for example, press 'w' on your keyboard to move to the screen containing demos whose titles begin with a 'w'.
2. More Information
This folder contains a separate folder for each demo. Here you will find the demo (you can also launch it from here), instructions, documents, and 'where to buy' information. In many cases, additional documentation and sample documents appear here which are not available via the "Click here first!" interface.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
1. To use the applications on this CD, you should be running System 7.0 or later.
2. If you are using At Ease on your hard drive, please turn it off. To do so, pull down the Apple menu located in the upper left hand corner of your screen and select ‘Control Panels’. Once in the Control Panel, select ‘At Ease’ and follow the instructions.
3. Some of the demos require a minimum of 3MB of free RAM.
4. Several of the demos use QuickTime movies. If you don't have QuickTime in the "Extensions" folder in your system folder, drag it there from the "Support Files" folder on the CD.
SPECIAL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
A few of the demo applications have special hardware or software requirements. Some examples of these requirements include: your system must be equipped with a flatbed scanner, a modem, a network node, or MIDI hookup for the demo to work. When you launch a demo with a special requirement, a dialog box will appear to tell you the specific requirements of that particular product. In some cases, you may find that a demo is not in an At Ease icon. Instead you will find a teachtext document giving you instructions on how to launch the application.
SPECIAL SYSTEM NOTES
Some applications reset the color of your system when launched. You will notice a color change on your screen as it attempts to reset the colors. In addition, a "painting" effect occurs as you move from one page of the "Click here first!" interface to another. Neither change affects your system. Restarting your machine restores the interface to its original format.
If you are getting "not found" messages when you try to launch applications from the "Click here first!" interface, try rebuilding your desktop. You can do this by holding down both the "option" and "command" keys while you restart your machine.
If you are using System 6.0, you may experience changes in your screen which will not affect your system.
